Pricing Strategy for Two Kinds of Electricity Retail Companies Based on Bertrand Model

Abstract:

The electricity retail market is open to social capital according to the new electric power system reform scheme. However, electricity retail enterprises in China are lack of operating experience. So this paper studies the pricing strategies of electricity retail enterprises under the background of electricity retail market opening, based on the operation experience of foreign electricity retail market. Six kinds of electricity retail companies that can be electricity retail subjects are further classified into two kinds: companies with electricity generation assets and companies without electricity generation assets. This paper adopts Bertrand oligopoly game model to analyze the pricing strategies for these two kinds of electricity retail companies, in which the alternative coefficient in the Bertrand model is determined by analytic hierarchy process (AHP) according to the value-added service type provided by electricity retail companies. Finally, the feasibility of the model is validated by a practical example. This method can provide a theoretical basis for the pricing strategies of electricity retail companies.
