Abstract:

For conventional cooling tower, one index thickening parameter was used respectively in the area above or below tower throat, which could determine the tower wall thickness. However, for large-scale cooling tower and indirect dry cooling tower, the wall thickness of tower down ring beam was much larger than that of conventional cooling tower. The index thickening method could not meet the need of the positioning design for the wall thicknesses of these towers. Therefore, this paper proposed the improved method for the positioning calculation of tower thickness, in which sectional treatment was used for the area below tower throat with increasing an index thickening parameter. Under the condition of tower stability, the improved method can effectively reduce the concrete consumption of cooling tower.
