Abstract:  ABSTRACT:  With the development of new energy city and photovoltaic generation application demonstration area, a high penetration of distributed generation appears, which brings new operation and management issues to regional power grid. The virtual power plant (VPP) provides a feasible solution to these issues with the innovative operation mode. Based on the analysis of the concept, characteristics, structure and function of VPP, this paper focuses on the research and discussion of the application of VPP in the distributed photovoltaic generation application demonstration area, and analyzes its application prospect and preconditions. Finally, this paper proposes some key issues on the future development of VPP.
