Abstract: The study on the relationship between power demand and economic and social development has increasingly become an important issue. The development of regional electricity market directly affects the development of regional economy and society， and the people's living standards. Taking Chongqing as an example， the influencial factors of power demand were studied， and the macro-economic and the social development were combined to find a favorable index. The main influencing factors of power demand were obtained through the screening and analysis of indicators with using principal component analysis （PCA） in multivariate statistical analysis， which could provide a strong basis for the planning of regional electricity market.
