Active distribution network（ADN） is the advanced technology stage of the smart distribution grid development, which takes the ability of combining and controlling a variety of distributed energy （distributed generation, energy storage, controllable load and demand response）. A brief introduction was given on the constitution of the active distribution network, and its own characteristics and the requirements to the protection and control system were discussed. The active distribution network protection and control system design was proposed. The key technologies of the system such as control technologies, the protection technologies based on the combination of point of common coupling protection and distributed network protection and the DC distributed network protection were specifically introduced.
