 Communication Network Architecture for Distribution Automation System Based on IPv6

Abstract:  This paper reviews the implementation status of distribution automation system and analyzes the problems of its communication network architecture. Following the common communication network concept, we proposes a novel communication network architecture for distribution automation system based on IPv6, and discusses the advantages of the IPv6 based communication network architecture. The proposed communication network architecture for distribution automation system based on IPv6 meets the requirement of the future distribution automation system (user-side and grid-side). The significance of such communication network to the future smart grid can be expected.
