Abstract:  ABSTRACT:    With the quick development of new energy generation technology, new requirements are put forward for the flexible AC transmission technology of new energy power system. In order to solve the power fluctuations and grid stability problems caused by the power generation volatility, intermittency and load change of new power system of large power grid, this paper proposes a new unified power flow controller (UPFC) based on the battery energy storage system (BESS) access. We construct the mathematical model for new power system of large power grid including wind power, photovoltaic power generation and UPFC/BESS, and design the flexible tracking control method for UPFC/BESS based on wide area measurement system (WAMS), in order to inhibit the power fluctuation of new energy. The method can make energy storage device flexibly switch the active power and reactive power of system, and eliminate the influence of active fluctuation on the node voltage. The simulation results based on PSCAD/EMTDC platform show that UPFC/BESS has strong ability of active regulation, and can quickly adjust fluctuation problem of load and power supply caused by the new power system accessing of large power grid.
