A New Method of Conductor Corona Effect Check for 750 kV AC Substations

Abstract

The selection of soft, or hard conductors directly affects the cost and operation of 750 kV and above AC substations. With the increase of voltage levels, proper soft and hard conductors can reduce or even avoid corona discharging and high frequency corona noise caused by wires and conductors in substations, which is further beneficial to construct resource-saving and environment-friendly projects. Based on the selection of soft and hard conductors and corona checking in 750 kV Shazhou Substation under construction, a new method of corona checking for soft and hard conductors in 750 kV substation is presented. Economic and technical comparisons are carried out on practical soft conductors, in order to propose the most suitable soft and hard conductors for 750 kV Shazhou Substation.
