Temperature Monitoring of Valve Hall Equipment in Flexible DC Converter Station

Abstract

The converter valve is the core equipment in DC power transmission system, and the temperature monitoring of valve hall equipment is of great significance to guarantee the safe operation of converter valve. Based on ± 200 kV multiterminal-flexible DC transmission project in Zhoushan, the structure of valve hall in converter station and the characteristics of valve hall equipment are described, and three kinds of temperature measurement schemes for valve hall equipment: infrared, optical and wireless are proposed. Finally, through a comparison of technology and safety, the infrared temperature measurement scheme is presented that could satisfy the monitoring requirements without affecting the structure of valve body. It is suggested that the temperature measurement of flexible DC valve hall equipment should apply infrared method.
