Abstract: Based on the aerodynamic characteristics of conductor galloping, the fluid field around iced conductor was analyzed by using fluid dynamics. The aerodynamic coefficients at various wind speed and attack angles were calculated through numerical simulation, and the influences of the wind speed, attack angles on conductor galloping were discussed. Besides, the cable elements were used to simulate transmission line for the mechanics model of iced conductor galloping. The iced conductor galloping was modal analyzed with the use of Ansys, and the wind-induced response of iced conductor was studied with the use of harmonic superimposing method. The first six natural frequencies and eigenvectors were obtained and the displacement response curves of some vibration mode of the line were drawn, which could provide references for the iced conductor design.
